Polar Life Haus – A Builder of Sustainability

ESG Reporting and Sustainable Log Homes

Case study • ESG reporting • VSME standard

Polar Life Haus published its first VSME-aligned ESG report with support from esgResilience.

Polar Life Haus is known for high-quality, ecological log and wooden houses. The family-owned company from Töysä, Finland has developed wood-construction expertise for over a century passing this expertise from one generation to another. This year, the company added a new chapter to its sustainability story, as its first ESG report was completed in collaboration with esgResilience. The report enhances transparency in Polar Life Haus’ sustainability work, while supporting the company’s position as a trailblazer in green construction.

A clear tool brought confidence to reporting

The first report was a significant milestone. The esgResilience service provided a clear structure and guidance, which allowed Polar Life Haus to gain a comprehensive overview of its sustainable business practices. The report, aligned with the EU’s VSME standard, concretely demonstrates how environmental sustainability and social responsibility, along with good governance are connected to the company’s everyday operations. Through the project, the importance of ESG became tangible – also in areas that don’t always get the spotlight in day-to-day operations.

Concrete actions, concrete impact

Polar Life Haus is committed to the annual measurement and reporting of Scope 1–3 emissions, as well as to actively driving emission reductions. The use of solar power, utilization of wood waste for energy, and chemical-free solutions are just a few examples of how sustainability is embedded in the company’s daily operations. In addition, investments in employee development, equality, and inclusivity strengthen the social responsibility of Polar Life Haus.

Building trust through transparency

“Green and responsible construction are at the heart of our values, which is why we’re committed to openly and transparently sharing our sustainability efforts. Our ESG report shows how we consider environmental responsibility, social impact, and good governance—while also highlighting our commitment to continuous improvement. For our customers, it’s a guarantee that building with us means choosing an environmentally friendly, transparent, and future-focused partner.”

Harri Vainionpää, CEO, Polar Life Haus
